Parfianka Pomegranate
“The World's Best-Tasting Pomegranate”
For the Month of August, Parkview Nursery Canyon Crest, would like to spotlight the Parfianka Pomegranate. If you want to plant a fruit tree in the peak of the August heat, you need a tree that worships the sun. Meet the Parfianka Pomegranate. While other trees struggle with late-summer transplant shock, this desert native thrives in triple-digit weather. Not only is it practically indestructible in the Inland Empire, but it consistently wins professional taste tests as the highest-quality, most flavorful pomegranate available.
The Parfianka produces large, beautiful red fruit hiding incredibly sweet, ruby-red arils. Unlike grocery store varieties, the seeds inside are very soft and completely edible, making it a favorite for fresh snacking or juicing. This is the ultimate beginner-friendly tree. It is highly resistant to pests, loves our dry climate, and handles the August heat better than almost anything else in the nursery. Pomegranates are famously drought-tolerant once established. For its first August in the ground, simply provide a slow, deep soak 1–2 times a week to help its vigorous root system settle into the warm soil. The Parfianka Pomegranate grows to a manageable 10–12 feet tall and wide (occasionally reaching 14 feet). It naturally grows as a dense, glossy-leafed shrub, but responds beautifully to pruning if you prefer a clean, single-trunk tree look. It is a low-chill superstar (requiring only 100–200 chill hours). It doesn't need a cold Riverside winter to produce a massive, heavy harvest of gourmet fruit right in your backyard.
The Parfianka Pomegranate tree is one of our qualifying trees for the Riverside Shade Tree Program, but there are some restrictions. For more information please call our Canyon Crest location for more information..
